One Book That Will Change Your Life
As you have probably heard before, great leaders are great readers. I think that extends beyond the bounds of reading a book. I think it means that to be a great leader you must learn to read everything around you very well. You must read the body language of those that surround you, so reading people. You must learn to read the room, pick up on the cues, details, quirks, and atmosphere of an environment. But, reading and reading well are a very big part of the first step. The next step is to learn to interpret and act accordingly to what you have read. So, if you have “read” that a room’s atmosphere is tense, and filled with escalated emotions. Your job as a leader is to find out what’s causing the tension, soothe the people, and de-escalate the situation.
So know that we have established the wide definition of being a great leader and a great reader; Physical reading is important. I know what you’re thinking. UGH Really! As an avid reader myself, I am a hundred percent biased. With that being said; I will hurry up and get to the reason you opened this blog.
I could give you hundreds and hundreds of book recommendations. But, the one book that will change your life is the book of Esther. C’mon! You had to have expected that answer. Look at our name!
But the book of Esther is such a well-written book. Detailing the journey of an orphan girl who rises to royalty, and in turn has the opportunity to impact the lives of her people. In it, we see the turmoil of humanity, the burden of responsibility, and the hand of God (quite loudly, although His name is never outright mentioned). It encourages us to overcome fear, complacency, and adversity to change our surroundings, and the world.
With all that being said, pick up the book of Esther, ebook, physical, anything. And for you all, that insist on not reading a book. I recommend these versions of Esther.
